           Château de la Ballue

In Brittany, only minutes from Le Mont Saint-Michel, between the Rivers Rance and Couesnon, discover the wonders of Château de la Ballue.  This is a stunning château, perfectly preserved on the exterior, and grand and elegant on the interior.  Situated among dramatic theatrical gardens, the beautiful 17th century château is a symphony of  classical architecture, exquisite décor and contemporary art.  In the past, la Ballue welcomed Balzac, Victor Hugo and other prestigious visitors and  more recently inspired artists such as Robert Rauschenberg and Monory.

Five spacious and elegant guest rooms with canopy beds and private baths, a music room, sitting rooms with large and inviting fireplaces, and peaceful garden terraces are all designed to provide guests exceptional comfort and relaxation.  Each room in the château is a harmonious blend of rich colors and a discerning sense of style. The Victor Hugo guest room is luxurious with a canopied bed and is a favorite of honeymooners.  Diane  (pictured below) has a king-size bed and 18th century paneling with an elegant en suite bathroom. Perse is Oriental in design providing both double and single canopied beds with marvelous garden views.

The highlight of  any stay at Château de la Ballue will be tea and a guided tour of those magnificent gardens.  Visitors will appreciate the imagination that created the gardens and be amazed by the effort and care that maintains them.  Incredible sculptures punctuate the trail as one wanders among the various theme settings.  As you walk back toward the front of the château, look to your left to see a panoramic view of beautiful Brittany laid out before you.  It is an amazing château in an extraordinary location.  And,  only a short drive away,  in addition to Le Mont Saint-Michel, are the historic towns of Dinan, Dinard, Fougères, Combourg,  medieval Dol-de-Bretagne and, of course,  Brittany's Emerald Coast.  Thus,  it is truly a wise and discerning traveler who chooses to stay at Château de la Ballue.
