Château de Chambost
On a farm located outside Lyon and at 600 meters altitude, in a region renowned for its peaceful beauty as well as its gastronomic delights, the charming 18th century Château de Chambost's owners happily welcome guests into their home.  This castle has belonged to the same family for several centuries and was substantially remodeled in 1850 ~ the 'parrot's room' and the lounge have retained the lovely wallpapers of that era.

Today, your host and hostess offer five traditional bedrooms for guests, each with its own en suite bathroom.  There are two spacious doubles, two twin-bedded rooms and a lovely suite suitable for three people, all at reasonable prices.   Of course, every modern convenience and amenity is provided for the ultimate comfort of the château's visitors.   If you are taking dinner at the château, you will enjoy the ambiance of the magnificent 16th century dining room with its rib-vaulted ceiling and stone walls at any time of year, or, in warmer weather, you can enjoy outdoor dining with a splendid view of the Monts du Lyonnais village of Chambost Longessaigne.

The château is quite near the gastronomic capital of France (and perhaps Europe!), Lyon.  Fine dining in Lyon and touring this interesting city on the banks of the Saône and Rhône rivers is a wonderful way to spend one or more days, always returning to Château de Chambost for a quiet and restful night.   Not far from Lyon is the smaller and unique city of Vienne with its many Roman ruins and fascinating history.

Keep in mind that you can enjoy both regional cooking and French language immersion classes as a guest of the château.  Just let the owners know when you are making your reservation about your special interests.

The location of the château makes possible a wide variety of pastimes for guests, knowing they have a warm and welcoming 'home away from home' to return to after a busy day of sightseeing or exploration of the region.   For those interested in spending all their time with nature, they will appreciate that skiing, horseback riding, hiking, tennis, swimming and other outdoor activities are convenient to the château.  We invite you to consider staying at Château de Chambost when you next visit the Rhône region.  We are certain you will be enchanted with this lovely residence and its warm and friendly family.
