Château de la Charmeraie
You have just discovered a most marvelous Florentine-style chambres d' hôtes in France's Rhône département !   Château de la Charmeraie is a fine 19th century home set on five terraced and landscaped hectares of land with a large pond, French gardens, and over twenty-three species of trees (many of which are over a century old) providing shade and beauty throughout the park.  There is a most inviting swimming pool whose terrace is the location of many meals in the summer months ~ the view of the Monts du Lyonnais is simply breathtaking, and the owners believe it is reminiscent of Tuscany.

Each room of the château has been tastefully decorated in a lovely color palette and furnished with style to please the most discerning guest.  Comfort, of course, has not been neglected, so anyone staying at the château will appreciate the lovely beds, fine seating and convenient en suite modern bathrooms.   Breakfast and dinner is experienced in a truly lovely dining room wrapped in sculpted paneling and furnished with fine antiques.  The fireplace is very special and it may be hard to decide whether it or the magnificent painted ceiling is the focal point of the room.   Preceding dinner, all guests are served an apéritif at 8 o'clock in the summer or 7:30 in the winter months.  Dinner is then served a half hour later.  Guest dine at the family table, but for those who request to dine alone, a separate table can be prepared.  And, for those who request it a day in advance, a light mid-day picnic meal will be prepared by your hostess to enjoy in the park.

There are six guest rooms and suites from which to choose ~ each one is luxurious and tastefully appointed.   Guests can also avail themselves of a cozy and comfortable salon to enjoy quiet moments or to share conversation with other guests or traveling companions.   Nearby attractions will keep visitors occupied during the day.

For those who want to visit Lyon, it is easily reached by car.  In Lyon you have fine restaurants, museums ~ the city is on the banks of both the Saône and Rhône Rivers ~ and the old city is lovely for pedestrian exploration.   Also nearby is Vienne, 30 kilometers south of Lyon on the banks of the Rhône,  with an exceptional Roman history.  Not only are there the remains of a Roman amphitheatre, one can visit the temple of Augusta and Livia erected by the emperor Claudius, and the Plan de l'Aiguille, a small  pyramid from the Roman circus.  Vienne is a wonderful place to spend the day, but your return in the evening to Château de la Charmeraie will provide the perfect place for rest and rejuvenation so that the remainder of your holiday will continue to be as enjoyable.
