Château de Talhouët
Château de Talhouët

Location, location, location!  That is an important part of why a traveler chooses accommodations, and Château de Talhouët is so perfectly located that it would be a shame to pass it up!  First, the château itself is beautifully situated on a vast parkland with views over the Morbihan countryside.  It has a chapel on the grounds with historic appeal, and the château itself is warm and inviting making guests feel right at home.  Why, the owner's Irish Wolfhound,  Phineas, who lounges by the entrance,  is evidence that this is a friendly place!

Sun-dappled alléeVisitors will drive up the sun-dappled allée through the woods on the approach to find the château suddenly appear in a clearing.  The sight is memorable indeed.

Your host at Château de Talhouët, Jean-Pol Soulaine, has turned a childhood dream into a reality, having longed after the château since boyhood.  Today, he is lord of the manor and enjoying every minute!  Cordial and accommodating, Monsieur Soulaine is focused on the comfort and pleasures of his guests.  His restaurant is renowned in the region, so bed and breakfast guests will find themselves sharing the stunning dining room with local diners who can't stay away!

The region of the Morbihan in southern Brittany is rich with prehistoric parks where dolmens and menhirs are found in mysterious formations.  But, as you stroll the grounds of Château de Talhouët you may just come upon some ancient stones yourself, for there are several to be discovered here!

Elegant Dining at Talhouët

Guest rooms are large and comfortable.  The en suite bathrooms have modern hot showers, fine fixtures, plush towels and even little guest soaps far more luxurious than those found in lodging elsewhere.  No stone was left unturned when the château became a luxury establishment, and guests return time after time to partake of its charm and ambiance.

Guest RoomWhat seems like just around the corner is the magnificent village of Rochefort-en-Terre, one of the Most Beautiful Villages of France.   Lovely little lanes and fine shops line the streets, but there is no atmosphere of commercialism, just one of people living their daily lives and greeting the travelers who pass through.  Don't miss the potter's shop at the edge of town to find authentic, local, hand-thrown ware that make great gifts or items for you to enjoy.  And, the shop carries salt from the Breton coast...absolutely perfect for cooking or sprinkling on your favorite dishes once you return home.
