Château de Chorey

Located in Burgundy's Côte d'Or, the heart of wine country, and between the cities of Beaune and Dijon, you will find the warm and welcoming Château de Chorey.  If you've dined in what have been called Paris' best restaurants --  Taillevent,  l'Arpège, La Tour d'Argent among others -- or perhaps in the provinces at Troisgros, Restaurant Marc Meneau or La Chevre d'Or, you may have enjoyed a wine or two from Château de Chorey.

Set on 42 acres, Domaine du Château de Chorey-les-Beaune invites you to taste its exceptional wines.  Their labels can be found on eight red and four white appellations, and a Vieux Marc de Bourgogne, barrel aged for 25 years.  François Germain has run the estate since 1969; his son, Benoît joined him in 1993; and in 2001 his daughter, Aude, became part of the team.  The estate produces high quality wines, employing traditional vinification methods and allows the wine to age in oak barrels.   And, of course, guests can participate in wine tastings on the estate.

But, because it is primarily a wine estate, don't assume that the bed and breakfast operation at Château de Chorey is ignored.  The château itself has belonged to the same family for generations and has been recently renovated to a high standard.  A variety of buildings combine to make up the estate, offering various examples of Burgundian architecture.  The moat and towers date back to the thirteenth century, while the main building is of the seventeenth century.

The family happily and warmly welcomes guests to its chambres d'hôtes from Easter until the beginning of November.  Five beautifully-decorated guest rooms, all with private baths and telephones, are furnished in a traditional and refined manner, all to assure guests of comfort in a peaceful setting.  There are three spacious bedrooms and one suite on the first floor and one suite on the ground floor  ~ all with either vineyard, park or tower views ~ and the accommodation has received a 4 "epis" rating.    The suites can be combined to form an apartment which will accommodate six people.

New for 2009, the proprietor's daughter, a fine chef, will offer at noon, accompanied by a menu of regional dishes, a tasting of Château de Chorey's wines and one screening of wines of the region selected by her.  This meal is offered to guests of the château only and with advanced booking.

For lovers of the region of Burgundy, for wine connoisseurs, or simply for travelers to France seeking a pleasant stay in a beautiful part of the country  ~ accentuated by the availability of some very fine wines  ~  Château de Chorey is the perfect destination!
