| Château
des Condé is a very special addition to the au Château
web
site as they offer the property as a regal wedding venue, with an occasional
special promotion in the winter * or renting the château for a bar
mitzvah or other group gathering. Marriages are their specialty,
however, and this Burgundy château is a magnificent and historical
place providing exquisite reception rooms and salons as well as spacious,
beautifully appointed guest accommodations to create lasting memories for
the bride, groom and their entire list of guests.
As you visit their pages, you will see the amazing rooms of the château, the elaborate decorations provided for weddings in any season, and the special attention that is paid to each and every bride and groom and their guests. Château des Condé's story began on April 16, 1548 when Marshal Saint André began the construction of a sumptuous palace over part of the Medieval boundary walls. The Renaissance château was designed by Pierre Lescot, the most admired architect of the time. The château's Grande Galerie had been filled with rooms over the centuries, but with the assistance of the Department for the Conservation of Monuments and Historic Buildings, those rooms were demolished to expose the original architecture design by the architect for the Cour Carrée at the Louvre in Paris. The façade of the château was clad in red and black marble of which vestiges have survived in some areas. In the early 18th century, Mademoiselle de Sens, daughter of Louis III of Condé, had the south wing demolished. There is an oak tree on the estate that was planted in 1621 to honor the birth of the fourth Prince of Condé. This four hundred year-old tree is a fine specimen and worth admiring, and at its foot the princes of Condé buried their hunting dogs. There are amazing 17th century ramparts, corbeled elements on some of the towers, and machicolations to discourage assailants from attacking the base of the fortifications. The village church houses the mausoleum of Henri II of Condé and was designed by the famed sculptor Gilles Guérin. The story about the design is fascinating as there is representation of the Four Virtues, and all the princes and princesses of Condé, including the daughter of Louis XIV, repose in this church. Wedding celebrations and receptions at the château are always spectacular. The bride-to-be need only tell the owners of the château about her dream wedding, and those dreams will become a reality. From the château's Grande Galerie to the vaulted twelfth century cellars, from the Watchtower to the Moroccan Pavilion with its stunning water feature ~ elegance and luxury abound. Whether you choose to marry in the spring, summer, winter or autumn, all details will be provided to make the event the most memorable and special few days of your life. Your marriage ceremony can take place in the church, in the conservatory or in the rose garden. The entire château belongs to the bride and groom and their guests who can dance until dawn, swim at midnight or stay up until brunch the next day! Everything will be done to create the perfect beginning to married life. Simply contact the owners and tell them your dreams! |
