| Château
du Foulon has been a member of the au Château family since the year
2000, and our memories of our own stay there are treasured. The elegance
of this pale yellow 19th century manor house is magnified by the warmth
and refinement of your hosts, as you will quickly discover when you visit
Château du Foulon.
Most appreciated is the tranquility of this special property -- over 100 acres of wooded parkland accented by friendly peacocks and peahens roaming freely and a pair of dazzling white swans floating gracefully in the stream. Enjoy long walks on pathways flanked by lush ferns beneath the shade of age-old trees. Take part each morning in a sumptuous buffet breakfast in the pleasant dining room, and luxuriate in guest rooms and suites tastefully furnished to ensure your total comfort. Château du Foulon's location makes it an ideal spot for visits to Atlantic beaches, the pine forest of the Landes, the Médoc and Haute Médoc wine country, and the delightful city of Bordeaux. Famous wine producers are quite nearby along the eastern rim of the Médoc peninsula, and visits can be scheduled for tastings and tours. Your host and hostess, the Viscount and Viscountess de Baritault du Carpia, will not only be happy to assist you in planning tours of the grand crus of the Médoc peninsula, but they will provide restaurant recommendations near the château for your evening meals. Tourism is a fairly recent phenomenon in this region; thus, luxury lodging may not be easy to find, especially at a most reasonable cost. To have the opportunity to stay at Château du Foulon is, therefore, all the more special and will add to fond memories of western Aquitaine you'll treasure for years. |
