| If an authentic French château is what you seek, look no further. The stately Château du Guerinet, a superb example of Classical Mansart style architecture of the Renaissance period, was built for a Prussian prince and his wife in 1797 ~ on sixteenth century foundations ~ to provide a place to entertain the elite of Europe. Located a mere fifteen minutes from Blois and convenient to many of the grand châteaux of the Loire, Château du Guerinet sits on forty acres of meadows and ancient oak woods, which is then surrounded by 4000 acres of forest with a network of paths for walking, cycling and riding. All of the oak in this french chateau came from that forest! The château is adorned with stunning French architectural details such as carved plaster work, a monumental stone staircase, polished parquet floors, original tile work, wrought iron balustrades, lovely fireplaces of marble and stone, enormous French trumeau mirrors, trompe l'oeil paintings, polished parquet floors, fine wood and plaster work, and magnificent chandeliers and sconces. Outside are two spacious terraces that catch the morning and afternoon sun. The grand reception rooms, with their five meter-high ceilings, have floor to ceiling windows at the front and back allowing in light all day long. Guests will be equally impressed with the accommodations at the château ~ six grand, elegant and beautifully furnished suites with period French furniture enhanced by fine fabrics in warm and inviting colors. Rooms are designed with the comfort of their guests in mind, and their occupants will find themselves truly experiencing château life as it is intended. Fine Egyptian cotton bed linens and duvets of goose and duck down on super king size beds in each room make one's château experience even more luxurious. For those with allergies, microfiber duvets and pillows are available. The family who owns the château and has so lovingly restored it will give each guest a warm welcome. Guests can even spend some time pampering themselves in a wonderful, four-person, infrared sauna. For those looking for the perfect Loire Valley venue for their wedding, the Clemence family can make all arrangements for a perfect event. They can provide professional local artisans to do catering, photography, flowers and music and can arrange for horse-drawn carriages and, perhaps, hot-air balloon rides! Marquees can be arranged on the lawns, and the wedding party will have exclusive use of the château. The sweeping staircase in the great entrance hall is perfect for wedding photography, and the Hall can be used for dancing. Two lovely reception rooms, a commercial kitchen and the magnificent park and gardens will add to making any wedding a spectacular occasion. of which occupy the first floor) at € 177 per night: Henri, Diane,
Medici, and Pompadour. Suite Proust (sleeps
4 in two interconnecting rooms - € 247 per night/two-night minimum);
Suite Louis (€ 247 per night/two-night minimum) is on the ground
floor. Taxes included.
Breakfast is € 10 per person. Château Rental all year long at the rate of € 5500 except for high season (28 June to 30 August in 2008) which is € 7150 per week. A security deposit of € 4500 is required (refundable two weeks after departure).Two-night weekend rentals at € 2000 Taxes included. Payment: Deposits must be received within 8 days of initial request to hold reservation. The balance of the rental is to be paid no less than 8 calendar weeks prior to commencement of the holiday. Bookings made within the 8 week period are to be paid in full at the time of booking. Deposits are strictly non-refundable. For this reason Travel Insurance to cover against loss of deposit due to cancellation is strongly recommended. Check in time is 2.00 PM and guests are asked to vacate by 11.00 AM. If you require a later check out please let us know, and we will endeavor to provide this if possible. Dinner: subject to a minimum of six people, not available on Mondays or Wednesdays, for bed & breakfast guests (please notify at breakfast time or when making reserrvation) four courses plus wine and a cheese course is € 60 per person; children under 12 years of age € 10. Fine restaurants minutes away in Herbault, Orchaise, Blois and Onzain. Christmas & New Year fully catered weekly booking with Saturday start only (7 breakfasts, 5 dinners, special Christmas lunch and New Year's Eve dinner with fireworks, unlimited firewood and heating) € 11,000. Directions:
From Paris, by auto take the A10 south direction Orléans / Blois. At Blois, stay on the A10 passing the city on the north direction Tours. About 17 kilometers past Blois, you will arrive at the D108. Turn left direction Herbault. In Herbault, bear left onto the D766 direction Orchaise. Two kilometers past Herbault, you will see a sign for Château du Guerinet on the right.
