Château de Pomiro

Long ago a prominent hunting lodge, the exquisite Château de Pomiro later became the residence of the Marquis and Marquise de Noe.  The noble family had an historic link to England, and the great-great grandmother of the Marquis married an English general and lived for some time on the Isle of Wight.  It is said that the Marquise was involved in the Belgian resistance during World War II and was badly treated by her captors.  She only passed away recently, but was well respected for the kindness and care she gave her staff, and the current owners have retained her dedicated and capable groundskeeper.

This beautiful château sits on ten acres of well-cared-for gardens surrounded by 200 acres of woods, vines, meadows and gentle countryside.  The vines yield Armagnac (Château de Pomiro appellation) and Floc, the local apéritif.  Guests will appreciate the fresh vegetables coming from the château's kitchen garden, honey produced by bees who thrive on the property's acacia trees, and the wonderfully fresh eggs from the estate's free-range chickens.  Formerly hoteliers and restaurateurs in the the Alps, the owners are eager to welcome guests into their lovely château to experience its comforts and all that Gascony has to offer.

Outside on the grounds guests will be able to enjoy an environmentally friendly swimming pool, recently constructed, which is treated with ultra violet light for purification and has an electronic cover for the safety of children and those who cannot swim.  Badminton is also available.  In the large, converted barn is a wonderful gym and games room.  Spa treatments (outlined below) are available to guests who make reservations in advance, and the gym provides a wide range of equipment including a cross trainer and a punching bag.  Games available include pool, table tennis, a dart board and table football.  For those who would like to explore the local area, bicycles are also available.  Archery equipment and fishing rods for use in the lake are also offered.  Garden strolls are recommended as the grounds are very interesting and beautiful with specimen trees and plantings.

The owners welcome groups who wish to have a family gathering or a celebration of a special event with their friends, and they can also provide all that is needed to have a beautiful and memorable wedding at the château.  The inside of the château and the Petite Maison are both tastefully decorated and comfortable.  There are six double and two twin guest rooms, all en suite and all with lovely crystal chandeliers that add an extra bit of elegance.  Each room offers a view over this tranquil estate.  We are confident that a stay at Château de Pomiro in this special region of southwest France will be completely enjoyable and forever memorable.
