Once again, kudos
to the proprietor who chose the colors, fabrics and furnishings for this
exceptional salon. It took imagination and good taste to create this
most interesting and unique space ~ a sitting room that will be fondly
remembered for years to come. The fireplace and mantel (not shown)
are original, dating from the early 18th century. |

This view of the
same salon shows the fine symmetry and elegant character of Salon de Louis
de Barberin. One can certainly find solitude and comfort here or
share this room with traveling companions and other château guests
for some quiet conversation and socializing. Louis de Barberin was
the great-grandfather of the Marquis de La Fayette's mother, Marie Julie
de la Rivière, and the fire back (not seen in this photo) bears
Louis de Barberin's coat of arms and his motto, Bellicae Virtutis Premium. |

For those intent
on a more traditional atmosphere to perhaps read or enjoy a cup of coffee,
this library at the château is the ideal spot. Comfortably
furnished and richly paneled with linen-fold paneling typical of the end
of the 19th century, this reading room invites guests to relax and make
themselves at home. The fireplace was assembled during that period
re-using 16th century elements. The central panel bears motifs inspired
by antiquity ~ Ceres, fauns, cornucopiae, and so on. |
