| In
the beautiful Périgord Noir of southwest France, Château
de Rouffillac sits high above the banks of the Dordogne River surrounded
by twelve acres of park and woodland and providing guests with a breathtaking
valley view. Especially appealing to guests is the cool, inner courtyard
ideal for family gatherings, outdoor meals and relaxation on a warm day.
A grand structure, Château de Rouffillac began as a fortified manor in the seventeenth century and was enlarged and transformed in the eighteenth century into the elegant Renaissance castle it is today. Every room offers a dramatic view of the Dordogne Valley. All modern comforts are afforded to guests to ensure that their stay combines both the conveniences of the 21st century with the historic charm and ambiance of the past. With room for up to eighteen people, this enchanting château offers a fully-equipped vaulted stone kitchen, a dining room, two comfortable lounges with grand Renaissance stone fireplaces, saltwater swimming pools, and eight beautifully appointed guest rooms -- two with twin beds and six with doubles. The château does not offer bed and breakfast accommodation but instead is available to rent in its entirety. Housekeeping services are provided four hours each week, and a chef can be provided if guests so desire. The département of the Dordogne is not only the prehistoric heart of France, but its perched villages, beautiful rivers and exceptional cuisine make it a perfect place to vacation. Very near Château de Rouffillac visitors will discover the drama of Rocamadour, the liveliness of Sarlat on market day, the charm of the medieval bastide town of Domme high above a sweeping curve of the River Dordogne, and the many other picturesque villages along the banks of this splendid waterway. The spectacular scenery, interesting pastimes and lots of sunny days create an irresistible blend, promising that a week or two at Château de Rouffillac in the Périgord will be happily remembered for years to come. |
