| Sparkling
in the warm sunlight of Provence, the elegant Château Talaud dates
from 1732 and was the estate home of the Marquis Grille l'Estoublen. The
château is an excellent example of classic 18th century architecture
and ideally situated in the heart of the Comtat Venaissin, an historic
region bounded by the Rhône and Durance Rivers and Mont Ventoux.
It has been renovated and restored with great care and attention to detail, and today the château owners, Hein and Conny Deiters-Kommer, warmly welcome guests to share their lovely home and provide them with a welcome apéritif. The château devotes fifteen hectares of its thirty-hectare parc (about 74 acres) to Côtes du Ventoux vineyards and boasts an exceptional wine cellar. Guests will thoroughly enjoy the well-tended grounds including a two-tiered spring-fed swimming pool, and they can relax on a chaise-longue in the garden with an apéritif or cup of tea to experience the peace, tranquility and warmth of Provence. Your host and hostess are a Dutch couple who have lived in many countries and have created a refined atmosphere with international overtones; they speak six languages, enabling guests from the world over to be instantly at ease at the château. Guest rooms are truly beautiful, tastefully decorated in rich fabrics, fine antiques and comfortable but classical furniture. Despite the spaciousness of all the rooms, they remain cozy and inviting. While M. Deiters-Kommer tends to the vineyards, Madame manages the bed and breakfast and is responsible for the elegant décor. One immediately senses that this property is one in which the owners have invested a great deal of love and effort, and guests reap the benefits of this dedication. In addition to the three double bedrooms, Verte, Bleue, and Cerise, there are two two-room suites, La Chambre Rouge and La Chambre Jaune, two apartments and the Cottage Petit Talaud, built in 1770. The larger quarters are ideal for extended stays, and the cottage is especially suited to families with children or for a small group of friends, as it provides a large sitting room with fireplace and a well-equipped kitchen. Unlike other regions of France, châteaux in the southeast are not at all common, making this exceptional find all the more special. When you add to that the proximity of so many attractions, the relaxed pace of the Provençal lifestyle, and the irresistible regional cuisine, you may just have found the place for a perfect vacation! |
