La Terrasse's gardens
are framed by the ancient rampart walls. The county of Lautrec was
founded in 940, the one remaining fortified gate dates back to the
13th century, and Charlemagne laid the foundations of the original Church
de St Rémi outside the fortress walls. Be sure to visit the
Office
de Tourisme to see a model of the village in all its stages of development
over the centuries, including a model of the original church.

open-air theater ~ a different perspective of this intriguing ancient village.
And, the front of La Terrasse on Place du Monument certainly
belies the magnificent gardens and views one experiences after stepping
through the door!
