Château des Tesnières

Château des Tesnières

The Ille-et-Vilaine  département of Brittany near the border with Normandy is home to a beautiful neo-Renaissance château, renovated completely in 2004 and already welcoming guests from around the world -- guests who appreciate the fifteen acres of magnificent parkland including vast lawns for strolling, century-old cedars and oak trees, verdant meadows, and peaceful water features such as tranquil lily ponds.

The fairy tale château was built in 1867 by the Count of Langle near some ruins of a manor destroyed during the French Revolution.  In 2003, the current owners purchased Château des Tesnières and transformed it into an elegant chambres d'hôtes offering two spacious double guest rooms and four suites.  The rooms of the château for use by guests include a library, a Louis XVI salon and a dining room, all with period fireplaces.   In one of the two towers is a self-service bar offering cool drinks, coffee or tea at any time of day, and in the other tower is an office area with a personal computer and Internet access at the disposal of guests.

Chambre SudGuest rooms and suites are contemporary in design with en suite bathrooms.  Despite the contrast in styles between this modern décor and the classical French design of the château, there is perfect harmony.  Spacious rooms with lovely views over the park below and completely modern bathrooms with every amenity combine to present guests with pleasant retreats in a magnificent environment.

                          Contemporary Chambre Sud

Large groups of people are welcomed for seminars, meetings or other gatherings, and the hosts provide all the necessary equipment for the function, as well as pleasant, personalized service to those in attendance.

This  region of France has much for visitors to do and see.  Only a short drive from the historic town of Dinan and very near the medieval village of Vitré, a stay at Château des Tesnières offers guests a multitude of daytime activities to enjoy.  Walks on beaches, sailing, horseback riding, golf and exploring are just some of the physical pursuits, all just a short distance away.  For more passive experiences, visits to museums and ancient towns with fascinating historic tales to tell can fill many days.  Enjoy pleasant drives to the channel and such interesting destinations as St Malo and Le Mont Saint-Michel, or see historic Rennes, the capital of Brittany, for visits to its museums, the cathedral and Les Jardins du Thabor.   And, if gardens are your passion, you are within easy reach of  Le Parc Floral de Haute Bretagne and the theatrical gardens at Château de la Ballue

Golf, the beaches and riding events

Golf and Equestrian Pursuits are just some of the activities near the Château

Open January 15 through December 15 each year, the owners of Château des Tesnières are waiting to warmly greet their guests.  Do consider this exceptional property for your next visit to Brittany.  And visit it today at Château des Tesnières on our web site.
